The Human Tackling Machine

I was sitting around in a hotel room in Haiti last week thinking about local high school football and in my 40 plus years of being a football fanatic in Glynn County you openly debate things in your mind, like who was better the better team the 1999 Pirates or the 2015 Terrors?

Who was better Darius Slay or Dee Jay Dallas? The list can go on and on, but then I asked myself ‘who is the most productive linebacker in all of your years watching football in this county’ and the name that comes immediately to mind is the heart and soul of the 2017 Glynn Academy Red Terror football team and his name is Hunter Hall.

Hall in my mind is the human tackling machine. Every time you watch a Glynn football game #44 is Terrorizing opposing ball carriers and trust me I know because my team BHS has been sitting home and I have watched a lot of Glynn Academy playoff football over the past two seasons.

Hall took over a starting job late during his freshman season and has been the leader of the Glynn defense for last two seasons racking up well over 100 tackles a season.

I am not sure of the career tackle record at Glynn Academy or Glynn County but I am sure when Hall’s football career is complete at GA he will be at the top or near the top of such a list.

Hall is a great athlete who is also a member of the 2017 Region Champion Red Terror baseball team. Hall also gets it done in the classroom with a 3.6 GPA with a qualifying test score, so he will make someone one heck of a college football player when his Terror days are over.

His head football coach Rocky Hidalgo told me recently that he was sure going to miss Hall when his time is done at Glynn pretty high praise for someone who hasn’t even started his senior year yet. At 6’0 and in 205-210 pound range Hall can run, hits like a bull, and you must account for him on defense every play.

Hall got a look on offense during the spring contest against Brunswick and ran like a wild man between the tackles. You already know he is a game changer on defense so look for an expanded role for Hall during the upcoming season for Glynn Academy.

The thing I like the best about Hall is that he plays the game like I remember linebackers playing when I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. He plays angry and will bust you square in the mouth, like a Mike Singletary of the 1985 Bears.

Your teammates rally around players like Hall who will lay it on the line every play and that is how championship programs are built.

Hunter Hall has been a huge piece of the championship culture that has developed at Glynn Academy over the past three seasons. Hall will have a chance to be the region defensive player of the year and could be on many all state lists after his senior season.

Hall has been a starter on three straight teams that have been in the elite eight during playoff time in the state of Georgia. Name a player in recent memory in Glynn County who can put that on their resume?

Hall is a leader and the heart of Glynn Academy and if you want to knock off this team under his watch you better pack an all you can eat buffet lunch because it will be a monumental task.

This kid plays football with passion and that brings a smile to many faces in this community. Glynn County enjoy #44 while you can because there won’t be many like him in the future.

The Human Tackling Machine farewell tour will wreak havoc one last time in Coastal Georgia this fall.
